The Customs Intelligence Agency has recovered 5.336 kg of gold worth Tk 5 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. At this time, two foreigners were detained.

The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation informed this information through a press release on Thursday.

According to the notification, the concerned department received secret information that gold may be smuggled by 2 passengers on the 7 am flight of Fly Dubai Airlines from Dubai to Dhaka. Later, 46 gold bars were recovered from 3 charger lights from two foreign passengers named Liu Zhongliang and Cheng Gang.

The total weight of recovered gold is 5.336 kg. Its estimated market value is Tk 5 crore 1 lakh 58 thousand. The seized gold bars have been deposited in the valuable customs warehouse at the Customs House in Dhaka. The notification also mentions that the process of handing over the detained passengers to the airport police station and filing a criminal case is under process.
