BNP Standing Committee Member and former State Minister for Power Ikbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said, “Awami League Chairperson Sheikh Hasina had been carried out her dictatorship government for around 16 years without votes of the people that creates anger among the citizens.”
He came up with the remarks, while addressing a memorial rally as chief guest at Paikpara Model High School in Bonbaria of Sirajganj Sadar upazila on Saturday afternoon.
The programme was arranged by Sadar upazila BNP commemorating to Abdul Alim and Sohanur Rahman Ranju, who died during the Anti discrimination Student-Public Movement.
The former minister also said, “Hasina and her cohorts left the country after looting the money of people in the name of so-called development. But, country’s people are now bearing the burden of foreign debts and facing immense sufferings due to unbridled price hike of essential commodities. Meanwhile, the country has lost remittance that leads to price hike of essentials.
The programme was presided over by Sarker Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, President of Sadar upazila BNP, while former Parliament Member and Sirajganj District BNP President Rumana Mahmud, its General Secretary and Member of BNP Central Executive Committee Saidur Rahman Bachchu, Senior Vice-President Mozibur Rahman Lebu, Bir Freedom Fighter Azizur Rahman Dulal, Vice-President Nazmul Hasan Rana, Kha Ma Rakibul Hasan Ratan, Rashedul Hasan Ranjan, Mirza Mostafa Zaman, Abu Sayeed Sweet, Shamim Hossain and Liakot Ali Khan among others spoke on the occasion.
In the memorial function, the victim families were given Tk 1 lakh each as assistance.
