BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has said that its questionable that the government is showing more interest in other matters than holding elections.

He said this while talking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized by the ‘Swadhin Bangla Anti-Drug Welfare Society’ at the National Press Club on Saturday.

Gayeshwar said, “For 17 years, people have given their blood to regain their voting rights and freedoms. It’s questionable that the current government is showing more interest in anything other than holding a fair election. A kind of distrust and mistrust is now clouding the minds of the people. There will be conspiracies— this is the nature of politics. It is better to leave political solutions to politicians.”

He said, “The people of the country never make mistakes in taking any decision. They understand more than us. Now the interim government is not trying to understand what the people want. Why do the country’s young people want to migrate abroad? It happens as we have not been able to make the country a place to live. There is no good medical system in the country. But this is the fundamental right of the people.”

BNP’s Dhaka Metropolitan South Jubo Dal convener Khandaker Enamul Haque Enam, Swadhin Bangla Anti-Drug Welfare Society founder Saim Nizami, senior vice president Khandaker Ruhul Amin and others were present at the meeting.
