Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Thursday announced that the government will recruit 10,000 new police constables to strengthen law enforcement across the country.

He made the announcement while speaking to journalists at the Secretariat in the capital in the afternoon.

The minister also said that recruitment will soon be completed for 180 vacant sergeant posts to address existing manpower shortages in the police force.

In addition, he noted that initiatives have been taken to reform district- and upazila-level law and order committees to improve coordination and enhance public safety.

The move is aimed at bolstering overall security and ensuring more effective policing services nationwide.
