Govt to procure 2 cargos LNG, 1.10cr litres rice bran oil

The governmenton Tuesday (18 March) approved separate proposals for procuring 2 cargos of LNG, 1.10 crore litres of rice bran oil and 50,000 tonnes of non-Basmati boiled rice to meet the growing demand of the country.

The approval came from the 12th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase this year held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.

Following two separate proposals from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla would procure one cargo LNG from the spot market through international quotation method from M/S Total Energies Gas and Power Ltd, United Kingdom with around Tk694.47 crore with per MMBtu LNG costing $14.48.

In response to another proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla would procure one cargo LNG from the spot market through international quotation method also from M/S Total Energies Gas and Power Ltd, the United Kingdom with around Tk682.00 crore where per MMBtu LNG would cost $14.22.

Following two separate proposals from the Ministry of Commerce, the state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) would procure 10,000 tonnes of lentil through local Open Tender Method (OTM) from M/S Modina Trading Corporation, Dhaka with around Taka 94.23 crore while per kg lentil costing Tk94.23.

In another proposal, the TCB will purchase 1.10 crore litres of rice bran oil through local OTM method from Green Oil and Poultry Feed Industries, Dhaka, Majumder Products Ltd, Dhaka and Majumder Bran Oil Mills Ltd, Jessore with around Tk178.75 crore with per litre oil costing Tk162.50.

The Directorate General of Food under the Ministry of Food would procure some 50,000 tonnes of non-Basmati boiled rice from M/S Pattabhi Agro Foods Private Limited, India under international OTM method for the current fiscal year with per tonne rice costing $429.55.

Besides, following two separate proposals from the Local Government Division, separate works under the Sayedabad Water Treatment Plant Construction Project, Phase-3 under Dhaka WASA have been awarded to China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co Ltd and HICC-SRC JV, Dhaka.
