Govt to procure one cargo of LNG, 72,897 SPC poles

The government approved separate proposals on Tuesday for procuring one cargo of LNG and 72,897 SPC poles to meet the growing demand for energy and strengthen the country’s power distribution system.

The approvals came during the 11th meeting of the Advisers’ Council Committee on Government Purchase, in the Cabinet Division Conference Room at the Bangladesh Secretariat.

Following a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla will procure one cargo of LNG from M/S Excelerate Energy, LP, US, from the spot market through international quotation at an estimated cost of approximately Tk664.40 crore, with the price per MMBtu of LNG set at $14.30.

Additionally, in response to three proposals from the Power Division, the government will procure 72,897 SPC poles to enhance the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board’s (BREB) distribution system.

Under the first proposal, 24,300 SPC poles will be procured from Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory Limited at an estimated cost of approximately Tk76.68 crore under the BREB Power Distribution System Modernization and Capacity Enhancement (Khulna Division) Project.

Similarly, under another proposal for the same project, 24,300 SPC poles will be procured from Charka SPC Poles Ltd JV, in partnership with DADA Engineering Ltd, TSCO Power Limited, and Pasha Poles Ltd, Bangladesh, at an estimated cost of approximately Tk76.65 crore.

Under a third proposal, 24,297 SPC poles will be procured from Poltes and Concrete Limited JV, in collaboration with Contech Construction Limited, Royal Green Products Ltd, and Sheltech Technology, at an estimated cost of approximately Tk76.61 crore.

Furthermore, based on a proposal from the Ministry of Shipping, the government has approved the procurement of necessary works and commodities on a G2G basis under the Direct Procurement Method (DPM) for the Expansion and Development of Mongla Port Facilities project, with an estimated budget of approximately Tk4,046.48 crore.
