‘Henry Bhubon’ starts journey in Sirajganj

Dr. Dipu Moni MP, Minister for Social Welfare yesterday said, “We need to establish old age care centre at different places in the country with the government and non-government initiatives to ensure living and safety for the old age people, who are considered as burden for their family members or detached from their families. Many people suffer immensely during their old age for want of care by their own relatives.” She told this on Friday, while inaugurating ‘Henry Bhubon’ an old age care centre, established at Gozariya village in Sirajganj Sadar upazila. She further

said, “It’s a great responsibility of every child (offspring) to serve for his or her parents during their old ages. But, all can’t do this due to different reasons. Many old age people face immense sufferings during their elderly period due to lack of son or daughter or different other reasons. Those, who have no son or daughter, or those, whose son or daughter don’t care of them; they need shelter and care at old age centre. The government wants to establish old age care centre in the country to ensure safety of elderly men. Rich and capable people should lend their helping hands to establish such as old age care center as per their ability.” The old age care centre ‘Henry Bhubon’ was established on 18 Bighas of land with the personal initiative of Dr. Jannat Ara Talukder, Parliament Member of Sirajganj-2 constituency and her husband Shamim Talukder Labu, Chairman of Sirajganj Zilla Parishad. Md. Abdul Wadud Dara, MP, State Minister of Rural Development and Cooperative Ministry, Gazi Shafiqul Islam Shafi, Parliament Member of Sirajganj-4 constituency (Ullapara) and Engineer Tanvir Shakil Joy, Parliament Member of Sirajganj-1 constituency (Kazipur) among others attended the programme as special guest. After the inauguration of the old age centre, a cultural function was also held on the occasion, where prominent and popular singer Nokul Kumar Biswas rendered songs among other performers.
