Harinakundu headmen rub nose of suspect thief on ground

A young man in Harinakundu upazila of Jhenaidah was forced to rubbing his nose on the ground by some village headmen (leaders) in front of hundreds of people bringing allegation of theft against him.

The young man was forced to move the surroundings of the village on broad daylight. The ill-fated young man was identified as Rasul Ali, 28, son of Abdul Mannan in the village.

Locals and eye witnesses said, a theft was committed in the house of a local quack physician Enamul Haque during the night of Friday. The local headmen led by Bhaina ward BNP president Serajul Islam organized an arbitrary at local government primary school ground on Saturday afternoon. On suspect of stealing, local headmen handed down a verdict, where he was forced to rubbing nose on the soil in front of present people.

While contacted, local BNP leader Serajul Islam admitted the incident and said the victim was punished as a suspect thief as he was involved with various anti-social activities since the Awami League tenure.

When contacted Rasul Ali’s father Abdul Mannan said, his son was a victim of political revenge, though he was never involved with any political party.

Bhaina union parishad chairman Nazmul Huda Tushar said, he was unaware about the incident. But is it done by someone, it was out of law.
