The family of Abu Sayeed – a student who died after standing firm in the face of a barrage of bullets during the quota reform movement – has filed a case accusing 40 people, including former Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, for the killing.
Sayeed’s elder brother filed this case in Rangpur court on Sunday.
On July 16, protesting students clashed with the police and Chhatra League-Jubo League leaders and activists in front of the Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur amid the quota reform movement. On that day, Sayeed died on the spot in a police shooting.
Sayeed, a resident of Rangpur district’s Pirganj upazila, was a 2019-20 session student of the Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur English Department.
