AF Hassan Ariff, the late Adviser to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Tourism and Land to the Interim Government, has been laid to rest at the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals’ Graveyard in the capital Dhaka.
AF Hassan Ariff’s burial was completed at the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals’ Graveyard at around 10:45 am on Monday (December 23). Prominent figures including his son Muazz Ariff were present at the time.
“We, siblings, grew up in an atmosphere of the court since childhood. If we needed anything from our father, we could tell him only on Saturday. I started getting close to my father when I started working with him in the Chamber. He was always busy in the court and in the Chamber. Everyone in the country knows what kind of lawyer he is. My father always took care of us. I believe that the country will always benefit from the work he left behind,” said Muazz Ariff.
At that time, along with Hassan Ariff’s family members, top government officials were present. Among them were Home and Agriculture Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Lands Saleh Ahmed, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Nasreen Jahan, and other officials.
On December 20, Adviser AF Hassan Ariff fell ill at home and was taken to LabAid Hospital in the capital. Doctors there declared him dead. He was 83.
AF Hassan Ariff’s first Namaz-e-Janaza was held on December 21 after Isha at Baitul Aman Mosque, Dhanmondi No. 7. His second Namaz-e-Janaza was held at the High Court premises at 11 am on December 21, and his third Namaz-e-Janaza was held at the Secretariat at noon that day. Later, his body was kept in the morgue of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka. Hasan Arif was taken from there and laid to rest today.
A state mourning is being observed for Adviser AF Hassan Ariff on Monday.
