The officer-in-charge (OC) of Hathazari Model Police Station was withdrawn last night following a clash between madrasa students and Jashne Julus supporters in Hathazari, Chattogram, over a post on Facebook.

The OC, Abu Kawser Mahmud, was withdrawn from duty around 11:00pm, said Additional Superintendent of Police (Hathazari circle) Kazi Tarek Aziz.

“The OC is now on leave as far as I know,” he said, while declining to provide further details.

At least 120 people were injured when a clash broke out on September 6 between students of Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Moinul Islam Hathazari Madrasa and supporters of Jashne Julus in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram, centring a Facebook post.
