Court Correspondent:The High Court (HC) on Sunday ordered authorities concerned to conduct concerted anti-mosquito drive with the participation of all parties including Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil passed the order, after holding hearing on a writ petition filed in this regard.

Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Md Tanvir Ahmed filed the writ and moved the plea before the court himself. Barrister Rimi Nahrin stood for DNCC, while Deputy Attorney General Tusher Kanti Roy argued for the state.

Md Tanvir Ahmed filed writ on March 3, 2019, pleading for necessary order to protect people from mosquitoes at the airport. The High Court after holding primary hearing on the matter, issued a rule on March 12, 2019. The court in that rule asked to explain as to why it shall not declare the ‘inaction and indifference’ of the concerned authorities illegal.

The petitioner later filed a supplementary petition for court’s direction towards authorities concerned for taking necessary steps against mosquito menace at the airport.
