The High Court has issued a rule asking why Shaheed Abu Sayeed, Mir Mugdha, Wasim, and other martyrs of the July-August mass uprising should not be declared national heroes.
The High Court bench led by Justice Fahmida Kader issued the rule on Monday (July 14).
The court also asked why a directive should not be given to prepare an accurate and reliable list of martyrs from the movement and publish it in the form of a gazette.
In addition, the court questioned why Chief Adviser of the interim government, Dr. Yunus, should not be declared the national reformer of the new Bangladesh.
The Cabinet Secretary, Law Secretary, and other concerned authorities have been asked to respond to the rule within four weeks.
Advocate Mohammad Ali Jinnah represented the petitioners in court, while Assistant Attorney General Ikramul Kabir appeared for the state.
