The High Court (HC) on Monday directed not to collect tolls from fire service vehicles in the case of movement on expressways, highways, important bridges, ferries and roads. At the same time, the court has issued a ruling seeking to know why tolling on fire service vehicles should not be declared outlawed and illegal.

In the preliminary hearing of a writ petition filed in this regard, the HC bench comprising Justice Mostafa Zaman Islam and Justice Masud Hossain Dolan gave this order on Monday (July 1).

Confirming the matter, Supreme Court lawyer Mohammad Monir Uddin said that he heard the writ petition in the court.

He also said that he had filed the writ in public interest on May 7.
