Highway Dacoity in Sirajganj: 2 suspects arrested

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-12 on Monday evening arrested two suspect members of dacoit gang in connection with a case filed over a highway dacoity that took place after stopping a private car at late night on October 3.

The information was given in a notification signed by RAB-12 Sirajganj Sadar Company Commander and Additional Superintendent of Police Dipankar Ghosh on Tuesday (October 7) morning.

The arrested are Md. Babu, 34, son of Raham Ali of Mohanpur village and Md. Shaha, 29, son of Shahid Ali of Notun Sayedabad village in Sirajganj Sadar upazila.

The notification said that, the dacoity incident occurred late at night on October 3 after stopping a private car on the west connection road of Jamuna Bridge. Five people, including a woman, were injured in the incident. A group of 14 to 15 dacoits equipped with country-made weapons vandalized the private car, attacked the passengers and looted valuable goods. A video of the incident went viral on social media.

The police filed a case against unidentified accused at Jamuna Bridge Western Police Station on October 5.

The notification further said that, two suspected members of the dacoit gang were picked up in a drive at the Kodda intersection and Sayedabad areas of the highway on Monday evening.
