Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said there is no security threat surrounding the upcoming Pohela Boishakh celebrations.
All necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of the events, Jahangir said while addressing reporters following a meeting on Tuesday in the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki was also present during the briefing.
The home adviser mentioned that Pohela Boishakh will be celebrated with joy across the capital and throughout the country.
Security measures will be implemented based on the specific circumstances of each area, he added.
Regarding incidents of looting and vandalism during protests on Monday in response to the situation in Gaza, the adviser said that such actions were inappropriate.
A total of 49 individuals have been arrested in connection with the incidents, he mentioned.
He further added that the government will remain vigilant to prevent the recurrence of such events in the future.
