A housewife committed suicide at her father house in Charkushabari village in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj district on Friday night.

The victim was identified as Antora Khatun, 20, daughter of Babul Hossain of the mentioned village of the upazila. She got married off with Nazmul Haque, son of Barik Ahmed of the same village about a year ago.

The reason behind the suicide could not be known so far, police said.

Quoting the victim’s family members, police said, Antora went to sleep on Friday night. But she did not open the door on the following morning that causes doubt among the inmates of the family. At one stage, the family members entered into the room by opening the door in technically and found her body hanged with the ceiling.

On information, police reached to the spot and recovered the body. Later, it was sent to Sirajganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy. An unnatural death case was lodged with the respective police station in this connection.
