Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) is considering young batter Tawhid Hridoy as the leading candidate to replace Tamim Iqbal as captain for the remainder of the Basundhara Dhaka Premier League (BDPL) season, team manager Sazzad Ahmed said on Friday.

With Tamim sidelined due to health concerns, Mohammedan is in search of a dependable leader to guide the team through the decisive stages of the tournament. Hridoy has emerged as the frontrunner, thanks to his leadership qualities and consistent performances in both domestic and international cricket, according to Sazzad.

“So far, Tawhid Hridoy has a great chance. He has led the team in a couple of matches when Tamim was unavailable, so he’s a strong candidate. But it’s the club’s decision. The club will let us know,” Sazzad told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

A final decision on the new captain is expected before Mohammedan’s next match, which is against Prime Bank Cricket club on 6th April.
