A human chain was formed in Sirajganj on Thursday, demanding immediate resumption of the inter-city ‘Sirajganj Express’ train service.

The demonstration, organized by local residents under the banner “Amra Sirajganjbasi,” took place outside the district commissioner’s office.

Among the prominent speakers were Romana Mahmud, President of the District unit BNP and former lawmaker, General Secretary Saidur Rahman Bachchu, Joint Secretaries Harun Or Rashid Khan Hasan and Noor Kayem Sabuj, Senior Lawyer Rafiq Sarkar, and Chhatra Dal President Junayed Hossain Sabuj.

The speakers highlighted the significant hardship the people of Sirajganj have faced since the train service was suspended on August 4.

“We demand the immediate resumption of the Sirajganj Express for the benefit of the public. Failing this, we will block all trains travelling from the northern region to Dhaka,” they warned.

At the conclusion of the event, a memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner.
