A court in Sirajganj on Monday sentenced two persons to life term imprisonment for killing a housewife.

The court also fined Tk 10,000 each, in default, they will have to serve six more months in jail.

The convicts are Dolon Hossain Pramanik, son of Shukur Ali Pramanik and Dolon’s sister Sujoni Khatun.

After completion of testimony and necessary hearings, Md. Ikbal Hossain, District and Sessions Judge of the court delivered the verdict.

According to the prosecution brief, Dolon married Jiasmin Khatun of the same village in 2010. After their marriage, two children were born in their family. But, they often used to engage in altercations. At one stage on June 13, 2019, Dolon and his family members killed Jiasmin centering a family feud.

Victim’s father Yusub Ali Pramanik filed a case with Raiganj police station in this connection accusing seven persons including her husband Dolon. Investigation Officer (IO) of the case submitted charge-sheet to the court accusing six persons.

During the verdict, the court also acquitted four other accused as the allegations brought against them could not be proved, said Rafique Sarker, PP of the court.

Those, who were acquitted in the case are: Abul Kalam, Abdul Hamid, Antahar Ali and Romechha Begum of the same village.
