Bangladesh left-arm spinner Taijul Islam said on Wednesday that he is happy to fulfill the expectations.

Taijul Islam claimed 5-50 to help the visitors bundle out the hosts for 185 runs and earn a 101-run win that also marked their third Test win abroad in 2024, courtesy 2-0 series win over Pakistan.

“I am satisfied with the bowling because I could fulfill the requirement of the team and when I came to bowl in the second innings I knew there were big expectations from me and Alhamdulillah that I could have success and feeling good about it,” Taijul said after the match.

“This is a big win for Bangladesh team because there were some young players and some guys were there who are playing for eight to 10 years but most of the players were young and there was a good communication in place,” he said.

“Everyone had that urge that we will win the game and Alhamdulillah that we could win the game and the effort everyone gave was unbelievable,” he said.

Pace bowler Taskin Ahmed, who shared man of the series award with Jayden Seales (10) after picking 11 wickets in two Tests, insisted that they are proud to level the series.

“Alhamdulillah, this is a big achievement as we had drawn the Test series because in their own condition a lot of big teams struggled against them,” said Taskin.

Taskin added that they are relieved to get out of the tough time since their historic Test series win over Pakistan as they lost five successive Tests following that win after being cleanly swept away by India and South Africa in the two-match Test series and losing the opening Test in Antigua.

“We were passing a tough time and after beating Pakistan in Pakistan we morally down after losing couple of series but we could make a strong comeback,” said the pace bowler.

“In both the games I tried to give my level best and was rewarded with the man of the series but hopefully many more to come,” he said.

Taskin, who earlier had taken a break from Test cricket due to his shoulder problem, seemed happy to get back into business as far as longer-format game is concerned.

“I was trying hard to come to Test cricket with my shoulder and now it’s better than before and hopefully will achieve more things in the coming days,” he added.
