The International Criminal Tribunal (ICT) on Tuesday ordered to produce the 8 police officials by arresting in the case of genocide in the Jatrabari area during the July-August student movement.

A three-member tribunal headed by ICT chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder passed the order on Tuesday (November 12).

Officer-in-Charge (OC) (Investigation) of Jatrabari police station Zakir Hossain is among these 8 police officers. The names of the others have not been released for the sake of arrest. The police have been directed to submit a progress report on their arrest to the tribunal on December 12.

Meanwhile, ICT Tribunal’s Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam has written to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take action regarding the issuance of Interpol’s Red Notice for the arrest of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and fugitive Awami League leaders who are in India in the case of the International Criminal Tribunal (ICT).

ICT Tribunal prosecution informed this on Tuesday (November 12).

On November 10, Law Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul said that the government is going to issue an “Interpol Red Notice” to bring those involved in the July-August mass murder, including former prime minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina, back to the country.

In response to journalists’ queries about the Awami League’s complaint against 62 people including Dr. Yunus at the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Law Adviser said “the government is not taking this complaint into consideration”.

Awami League has complained against the government in the international court to “undermine the country’s dignity,” he also said.

“It is not a case, it is a petition written to the prosecution office of ICC. Anyone in the world can do it. It is such an unbelievable and frivolous case that there is no reason for it to be writ,” Asif Nazrul said.

He added that the fascist gang has made this case as a way to spread false propaganda for self-defense to mislead world public opinion and the people of Bangladesh.
