TDS Desk:
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun today said that action will be taken against those who try to drive “unfit vehicles” on the highway during the Eid journey.
“Vehicles without fitness will not ply on highways during Eid journey. Three-wheeler vehicles like Nachiman, Kariman, and Votvoti will not run either. Action will be taken against those who try to run these,” he said.
He told reporters after visiting the Qurbani cattle market and bus terminal in Gabtoli on Thursday (June 13) afternoon.
The IGP said that this time we have taken all measures to ensure the safety of the Eid journey in the cattle market, rail, road, and sea on the occasion of Eid.
The IGP said that there is a one-way pressure during Eid. But what usually happens on Eid-ul-Azha is that as the pressure of people at home is on the road, trucks and pickups carrying livestock also move. That is, people go home, cattle come. “Two-way pressure” has to be faced on the road. Taking into consideration the entire issue, we have taken adequate measures on the part of the police to keep the traffic management and law and order situation normal and proper.
He added that arrangements have been made to ensure that vehicles carrying sacrificial animals can move properly and safely across the country including Dhaka. The Highway Police is keeping a close watch on the road.
