Members of law enforcement agencies, during a raid, detained two people and seized huge equipment used for manufacturing firearm in Pabna’s Atgharia upazila early on Tuesday.

According to police, ‘Moyez Bahini’ had been carrying out various criminal activities in the remote Chatra Beel of the upazila for a long time. Getting a secret information, a joint team conducted a raid at the den and seized huge equipment like drill machine, gun powder, cutting machine.

Sensing presence of the law enforcement agencies, many managed to flee, but two were detained. The detained men informed during initial quizzing that these weapons were being made for locally organised robberies and extortion.

Ataikula Police Station OC Habibul Islam said that the Moyez Bahini had been using the remote Chhatra Beel in Laxmipur Union as a base and holding ordinary people hostage through various crimes. After observing for several days, a raid was conducted on the den of the beel early Tuesday morning.
