Entertainment Desk:
Popular Dhallywood actor Arifin Shuvoo has made headlines recently after a significant break from the public eye. Known for his role in the biopic “Mujib: The Making of a Nation,” Shuvoo has not appeared in any projects since the dictator Sheikh Hasina’s government fall on 5 August last year.
During his time away, various rumors circulated about his status, particularly after he had gone into hiding for a while. Although he acted in the film “Mujib” without any remuneration, he received a plot in Purbachal by the previous government, which has since been revoked by the current interim government.
Currently in India, Shuvoo is working on his debut Hindi web series titled “Jazz City” directed by Soumik Sen. In a recent interview with the popular Bengali daily “Anandabazar Patrika,” he shared insights about his personal life, his acting career, and his upcoming projects.
When discussing politics, Arifin Shuvoo emphasised his stance as a “consciously apolitical” individual.
He remarked, “Every time there has been an upsurge in the world, there has been collateral damage. You were walking in the park, and suddenly something happened to you—it cannot be avoided. I don’t believe in any political identity. I just act. I don’t have a business, I don’t have a backup. If I were in real trouble, I wouldn’t be sitting in a cafe in Kolkata today giving an interview.”
The actor said his commitment to his craft remains a priority, and he chooses to focus on his roles and the connections he makes with viewers.
Shuvoo further shared, “I have given importance to two things throughout my life: becoming the character that has been given to me and the audience reaction to my work. I always strive to portray my character believably. Even if I’m cast as the stupidest person in the world, I will approach it with honesty. But in reality, I’m not that person.”
On the work front, the actor’s film “Neel Chokro” is set to be released on the occasion of upcoming Eid- ul-Azha. His other projects, including “Noor”, “Thikana Bangladesh”, and “Lahu” are also in the pipe line.
