In the proposed national budget for the 2025–26 fiscal year, it has been recommended to keep income up to Tk5 lakh from agriculture tax-free.

Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presented the proposed budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, amounting to Tk7,89,999 crore, in a televised speech on Monday.

The finance adviser said that in order to encourage and support agricultural production, any individual’s income up to Tk5 lakh from agriculture would be exempt from tax.

This move has been described as a significant step toward the development of the agricultural sector and the revitalization of the rural economy.
