Police have arrested an Indian citizen named Sheikh Abul Hayat along with foreign liquor during a raid at Akhaura Railway Junction Station in Brahmanbaria.
He was sent to Brahmanbaria District Jail on Friday (November 22) morning. Earlier, on Thursday afternoon, he was arrested along with four bottles of foreign liquor during a raid at the station. An Indian passport was found in his bag.
The arrested Sheikh Abul Hayat is the son of Sheikh Monirul of Hazerabati (Masjidpara) village of Khargram police station in Murshidabad district, West Bengal, India.
Akhaura Railway Police Station OC Md. Jasim Uddin Khandaker confirmed the arrest and said that the Indian youth was waiting for a train at the railway station in the afternoon. At that time, the patrol police became suspicious after seeing his movements. At one stage, the police searched his bag and arrested him along with four bottles of foreign liquor.
The OC also said that a case has been filed in this regard under the Special Powers Act and charges of smuggling. He was sent to Brahmanbaria district jail in the morning. Our campaign continues. Crime will be eradicated at any cost.
