A two-year-old girl died and two others fell into sick after consuming poisonous Chhatu (grist) in Belgachhi village in Belkuchi upazila of Sirajganj district on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Tanha Moni, daughter of Abdus Salam of the same village.
The two other persons Nurzahan Begum, 40, and Mithila Khatun, 12, who fell into sick, are undergoing treatment at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.
Police and locals said that, they took Chhatu as their breakfast and fell into sick along with vomiting and abdomen pain within a few moments. Of them, Tanha Moni died on the way to Sirajganj Sadar hospital. The two others were also referred to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura from Sirajganj Sadar Hospital as their condition deteriorated further.
Humayun Kabir, Additional Superintendent of Police, Belkuchi circle and Jakaria Hossain, Officer in Charge of Belkuchi thana visited the spot.
