Our Correspondent, Shahzadpur:

An infant, age about 18 months, drowned in a pond locally called as ‘Doba’ in Shaktipur Pashchimpara village of Shahzadpur upazila in Sirajganj district on Thursday.

The victim was identified as Rahat Hossain, son of Shahin of Barabeel Uttarpara village in the same upazila.

Victim’s family sources said, Rahat used to live in his grandmother resident at Shaktipur Pashchimpara village under Shahzadpur municipality as his parent used to serve in a garment factory at Gazipur. The incident took place at around 10:00am, while he was playing behind his grandmother house.

Locals found his floating body after a search. He was taken to PPD Trust Hospital, where the on duty doctors declared him dead.
