Inflation in Bangladesh has dropped below 9% for the first time in 27 months, according to data by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) released on Monday (July 7).
In June 2025, the point-to-point inflation rate fell to 8.48%, down from 9.05% in May.
The inflation rate has remained above the 9% mark since March 2023.
During the past 27 months, the highest recorded inflation was 11.66% in July 2024.
According to BBS data, food inflation fell to 7.39% in June this year, from 8.59% in May. On the other hand, non-food inflation declined slightly to 9.37% in June, from 9.42% in May.
However, the government’s target of keeping average inflation at 6.5% in the fiscal year 2024-25 was not achieved.
According to BBS calculations, the average inflation rate from July 2024 to June 2025 was 10.03%.
