Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Ahsan H Mansur has expressed his optimism that the inflation rate is expected to come down to seven percent by June-July of the current year.

“We have already implemented several initiatives to control inflation, and these measures are expected to have an immediate positive impact on the market,” he said when a delegation of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) met him at his office in Dhaka on Thursday.

As part of the measures, the central bank has ordered all banks to open LCs without any margin to keep prices of the essential commodities under control during Ramadan, which begins on 1 March, he said.

Claiming that the market is not experiencing a dollar crisis, he said that the dollar price remains stable and the flow of remittances shows a positive trend.

“Export earnings show an upward trend while the forex reserve is increasing gradually. So we will be able to enjoy its benefits soon,” said the BB governor.
