Inquilab Mancha, a non-political cultural organisation comprising former and current students of Dhaka University (DU), staged a sit-in outside the residence of the Chief Justice on Sunday to press for their three-point demand, including ensuring the safety of the July fighters.

A group of leaders and activists from Inquilab Mancha gathered in front of the National Museum in Dhaka’s Shahbagh area and held a brief rally around noon.

Following the rally, they brought out a protest procession that marched towards Kakrail Mosque and Matshya Bhaban.

Police intervened as the protesters attempted to proceed to the Chief Justice’s residence.

Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, the spokesperson for Inquilab Mancha, placed their three-point demands including to cancel the registration of the ‘Awami League, soon and to save patriotic students and citizens from the secret killings carried out by Awami League and arrest all criminals in the Awami League committees from the central level to the union level and to ensure complete security for all the fighters who participated in the July-August uprising.

Despite police obstruction, the protesters staged a sit-in on a one-way road in front of the Chief Justice’s residence, vowing not to leave until their memorandum was accepted.
