Interim government to take oath tomorrow: Army chief

The Chief of Army General Waker-Uz-Zaman said, “The interim government is likely to be sworn in at 8:00pm tomorrow (Thursday).”

He on Wednesday announced that, the interim government is expected to be sworn in by 8:00 PM on Thursday.

In a press conference held at the army headquarters on Wednesday afternoon, General Waker said that, the armed forces will extend all cooperation to the interim government headed by Nobel Laureate Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus.

He said that the designated head of the interim government, Muhammad Yunus, is scheduled to return to the country at 2:10pm and he will receive him at the airport. The swearing-in ceremony is planned for later that evening, with around 400 guests expected to attend.

General Waker mentioned that the interim government is likely to consist of 15 members, though there may be slight changes. “Since it’s not officially published, I won’t speak further on it,” he added.
