Int’l Desk:

At least 81 Palestinians have been killed and 422 injured in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours, the enclave’s Health Ministry reported on Saturday (June 28).

The intensifying strikes, particularly around the southern city of Khan Younis, have pushed the overall death toll in Israel’s war on Gaza to at least 56,412, with 133,054 wounded since the conflict began on 7 October 2023, reports Al Jazeera.

Of those, 6,089 people have been killed and 21,013 injured since Israel broke the ceasefire on 18 March.

The attacks come amid growing international scrutiny and calls for accountability.

Gaza’s Government Media Office earlier condemned reports from Israeli media suggesting soldiers were ordered to “deliberately shoot” Palestinians seeking aid, labelling the acts as evidence of “war crimes.”

Additionally, the head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestinian refugees also criticised the situation, claiming that aid distribution points operated by the US and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) have turned into “a killing field.”

The October 7 Hamas-led attacks on Israel left at least 1,139 Israelis dead, with over 200 people taken hostage, according to Israeli figures.

Meanwhile, the death toll in Gaza continues to climb, with no sign of a sustainable ceasefire in sight despite US President Donald Trump’s recent claim that a resolution could come “within the next week.”
