Jamaat-e-Islami and seven other parties have warned of an indefinite sit-in in front of the Chief Adviser’s residence at Jamuna, demanding five points, including the issuance of the implementation order of the July National Charter and holding a referendum on that order.

The announcement was made by Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Amir, Professor Mujibur Rahman, at a joint press conference of the eight parties held at Al-Falah Auditorium in Moghbazar, Dhaka, on Wednesday (12 November).

He said a meeting of the top leaders of the eight parties will be held on Sunday, 16 November, at 11:00 am, followed by a press conference at Al-Falah Auditorium at 12:30 pm. He added that if the five demands of the people are not met before then, the parties will launch an indefinite sit-in in front of the Chief Adviser’s residence at Jamuna.

Mujibur Rahman also stated that on Thursday, 13 November, the leaders of the eight parties, along with grassroots supporters, will stage nationwide demonstrations to resist the sabotage and subversive activities of fascist forces. On Friday, 14 November, protest marches will be held across districts and major cities, demanding the issuance of the implementation order of the July National Charter and holding a referendum on that order by mid-November, along with the other five demands.
