The Election Commission (EC) Thursday banned the entry of journalists after 5 pm for the sake of overall security. However, the EC Secretariat’s media center will be open for them.

This was informed in an office order signed by Sahid Abdus Salam, chief security officer and deputy secretary of the EC Secretariat on Thursday (September 19).

The office order says that it is requested as per instructions not to stay and enter the Nirbachan Bhaban (election building) after 5 pm at the end of office hours in the interest of the overall security of the Election Commission Secretariat, various service aspirants, Election Commission Secretariat, IDEA-2 project, EVM project, CBTEP project, personal guests of PWD officials/employees and journalists. Only the media center will be open to journalists.

It is also informed that this order issued in the public interest will be effective immediately.
