The body of student Asif Hossain, who was killed in the anti-discrimination student movement in Sirajganj, was handed over to his family on Tuesday after staying in the morgue for seven months.
According to the order of court, police handed over the body to his family members at around 12:00pm on Tuesday.
Mustakim Hossain, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police Outpost No. 2 in Sirajganj town confirmed the matter to the journalists.
Asif, 19, is the son of Nazrul Islam of Ekdala Punarbasan Mahalla in Sirajganj Municipality. He was a student of Sirajganj Government Technical School and College.
SI Mustakim said that, Asif’s identity was confirmed through DNA test. Earlier, his father Nazrul had applied to the court to get his son’s body. After the hearing on last Sunday, the judge ordered to hand over the body to this family. On the order of court, the body was handed over on Tuesday, he added.
