The president has removed Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman from his position in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court, as per a notification issued by the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
The order, signed by Law and Justice Division Secretary Sheikh Abu Taher, said the removal was made under Clause (6) of Article 96 of the Constitution of Bangladesh. The decision took effect on Wednesday, following recommendations from the Supreme Judicial Council.
The Supreme Court’s website also published a news update on Thursday confirming the removal. According to the update, the decision was based on the council’s report, which had been submitted to the president in accordance with constitutional provisions.
Justice Diliruzzaman was appointed as an additional judge of the High Court Division on May 31, 2018 and was made a permanent judge on May 30, 2020.
This marks the second such removal in recent months.
Earlier, Justice Khizir Hayat was also removed from the High Court Division following a similar procedure. His removal was formalised through a separate notification issued on March 18, based on Clause (6) of Article 96.
Justice Khizir Hayat had also been appointed as an additional judge on May 31, 2018 and became a permanent judge on May 30, 2020.
