Tangail Correspondent:
An unidentified group carried out an attack and vandalism at the residence of Bangabir Abdul Kader Siddique, president of the Krishak Sramik Janata League, in Tangail on Sunday (September7).
Around 12:35am, 10-12 individuals pelted bricks and stones, breaking windows on the first floor of Kader’s residence. They later climbed into the building using ladders and vandalised two cars in the parking lot, Tangail Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tanvir Ahmed told the media.
They also broke windows of the Sonar Bangla Community Center housed on the first floor of the building.
Kader was on the third floor at the time of the incident.
Police said the caretaker described the vandals as wearing helmets and covering their faces with gamcha (towels), and they attempted to set the cars on fire using petrol. All of them were carrying locally-made weapons such as ramda and chapati.
The house staff then came out with sticks, following which the perpetrators escaped through the gate.
“Upon receiving the news, we went to the spot at night and spoke with Kader Siddique. He asked us to look into the matter, and we are investigating,” the OC said.
“Those involved will soon be identified and brought under the law,” the OC said.
