BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia attended a reception marking the Armed Forces Day at Senakunja on Thursday.
It was her first public appearance after six years. Her last visit was at Sylhet on February 5, 2018.
She left her Gulshan residence ‘Firoza’ for Senakunja at around 3:30pm, said BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan.
Khaleda Zia was accompanied vt Sharmila Rahman Sinthi, widow of her youngest son Arafat Rahman.
BNP standing committee members Selima Rahman, AZM Zahid Hossain, student affairs secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul, and special assistant to the BNP chairperson Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas were also accompanied her.
On Tuesday night, Chief of General Staff (CGS) of Bangladesh Army Lt Gen Mizanur Rahman Shamim and Principal Staff Officer of the ArmedForces Division Lt Gen ASM Kamrul Ahsan met Khaleda Zia and invited her to the reception.
For the last time, she attended Armed Forces’ programme in 2012.
