Killed in line the of duty: Lt. Tanzim laid to rest in Tangail

The burial of Lieutenant Tanzim Sarwar Nirjon of the Bangladesh Army, who was stabbed to death by robbers at Chakaria in Cox’s Bazar, has been completed.

Lieutenant Tanzim Sarwar Nirjon was laid to rest at a local cemetery after the Namaz-e-Janaza at Bowali Madrasa ground in Kar Betka village of Tangail Sadar Upazila after Asr prayers on Tuesday (September 24).

Earlier, a Guard of Honour was given to the body of Lt. Tanzim Sarwar Nirjon. A large number of people from different classes and professions including high-ranking officers of the army participated in his Namaz-e-Janaza.

At 3:30 pm, an army helicopter carrying the body of the young army officer landed at the district sadar helipad. Later, high-ranking army officers received Lt. Nirjon’s body. Some of his family members were present at the time.

Lt. Nirjon’s body was taken directly to his home village in Kar Betka of Tangail Sadar Upazila. After the body reached the house, a heartbreaking scene unfolded there. The atmosphere became heavy with the grief of the relatives.

“On Tuesday at 6:30 am, we were informed that Nirjon was ill, so we had to come to Chattogram. When we left and reached Mirzapur in Tangail, they called again and told us the news of Nirjon’s death,” Nirjon’s uncle Ashraf Ali Khan said in tears.

General Hussain Mohammad Masihur Rahman, GOC of 19 Infantry Division of the Ghatail area, said that the deceased Tanzim Sarwar Nirjon was very brave. As per the country’s laws of the country, maximum punishment will be taken against those involved in this incident.

Noted that a team of army raided Maijpara village of Dulahazara union in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar after receiving a tip-off about the robbery. Sensing their presence, the robbers tried to flee, however, the team of Lt. Tanzim Sarwar chased some of them. At that time, when the robbers stabbed Tanzim Charwar in the neck, he started bleeding profusely. He was immediately rescued with serious injuries and taken to Malumghat Memorial Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

This talented army officer was a student of Bindubasini Government Boys High School in Tangail. After completing HSC from Pabna Cadet College, he was commissioned into the Army Service Corps (ASC) on 8 June 2022 from Bangladesh Military Academy.
