The family members of Manda Kanta Lahiri, who was allegedly killed by his rivals in Gudibari village of Shahzadpur upazila in Sirajganj district are now facing insecurity to lead their normal life due to continuous threat given by the accused for withdrawal of case.

Seeking security of their lives, family members of Manda Kanta Lahiri held a press conference at the Press Club’s seminar room in Sirajganj town on Tuesday.

In a written statement read out by Tushar Lahiri, nephew of the deceased revealed that, Manda Kanta Lahiri was attacked with sharp weapons by the accused Mashiur Rahman, Abir Rahman, Nibir Rahman and others on January 16 last year. He was taken to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital, where he died, while undergoing treatment.

Victim’s wife Santona Lahiri lodged a case with Shahzadpur police station in this connection accusing three named and few others unnamed persons.

After filing the case, the accused secured bail from High Court. Later, they started threatening to withdrawal the case. They try to manage the concerned physicians to produce faulty postmortem report in this regard. As a result, they are in fear of facing difficulties over the case’s future.

Victim’s family members and relatives urged the concerned law enforcers to take necessary steps in this regard for the sake of their safety and fair justice.
