The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards turned into a celebration of powerhouse women in pop, with Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Rosé, and Mariah Carey taking centre stage in New York.
The ceremony, held at UBS Arena, was hosted by LL Cool J for the second year in a row and dazzled audiences with performances from Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, J Balvin with DJ Snake, Post Malone, Jelly Roll, Conan Gray, and Tate McRae.
Lady Gaga claimed the night’s top honour, winning Artist of the Year, while BLACKPINK’s Rosé, teaming up with Bruno Mars, took home Song of the Year for their global smash “APT”. Ariana Grande emerged as another standout, sweeping up Video of the Year and Best Pop for “Brighter Days Ahead”. In her acceptance speech, Grande cheekily thanked “my therapists and gay people,” before declaring, “I love you.”
Mariah Carey, whose career has spanned decades of chart-topping success, was honoured with the prestigious Video Vanguard Award, cementing her legacy as one of pop’s most influential voices.
Special tributes also went to Busta Rhymes, who received the Rock the Bells Visionary Award, and Ricky Martin, recognised as Latin Icon. With star-studded wins, unforgettable live performances, and a clear spotlight on global artistry, the VMAs once again reaffirmed their place as one of the world’s most dynamic stages for music and culture.
