Global superstar Lady Gaga has revealed her struggles with mental health during the peak of her career. She shared that therapy, the support of her loved ones, and medical assistance helped her navigate through some of her toughest times.

At 39 years old, Lady Gaga’s real name is Stefani Germanotta, but she is widely known by her stage name. In a candid interview, the singer spoke about a period in her life when she lost all sense of mental stability. This led to her having to cancel her world tour, The Born This Way Ball.

“I remember one day my sister said to me, ‘I can’t see you anymore.’ That’s when I decided to cancel the tour,” Lady Gaga revealed. This moment highlighted how deeply the star was struggling with her mental and emotional health.

Lady Gaga also mentioned a time when she thought she might never recover. “I had to be admitted to a mental health facility one day. I was completely broken. I couldn’t do anything… It was truly terrifying. I consider myself lucky to be alive today,” she said.

Furthermore, she emphasised the importance of therapy and the support from her fiancé, which helped her manage the overwhelming mental pressure and regain her stability.

Lady Gaga also revealed that during the making of her iconic film A Star is Born, she was taking lithium to manage her mental health. “I was performing on stage with massive production, high-energy music, and in front of my fans, while trying to stave off panic attacks for 90 seconds at a time,” she added.

Her open acknowledgment of her mental health struggles is seen as a powerful step in raising awareness about the importance of mental health.
