Eleven suspects arrested in the murder case of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif in Chittagong have been shown arrested in another case.

The accused were presented before the Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court under tight security on Monday.

The court was petitioned to show them arrested in a case related to an attack on police on November 26.

Judge Abu Bakar Siddique granted the petition after a hearing, and the accused were then taken to Chittagong Central Jail.

Mohammad Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury, the assistant public prosecutor of the Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court delivered the order.

The accused are Premanandan Das Buja, 19, Ranab Das, 24, Bidhan Das, 29, Bikash Das, 24, Rumit Das, 30, Raj Kapoor, 55, Samir Das, 25, Shiv Kumar Das, 23, Om Das, 26, Ajay Das, 30, and Debicharan, 36.

THEY WERE ARRESTED ON JANUARY 26.

With this, a total of 21 people have been arrested in connection with the lawyer’s murder.

On November 26, Chittagong’s Sixth Metropolitan Magistrate Kazi Shariful Islam ordered the imprisonment of Chinmoy Krishna Das, spokesperson of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon), after rejecting his bail in a sedition case.

Following the order, his supporters protested by surrounding the prison van on the court premises, leading to clashes with the police.

The protesters went on a rampage around the court area and brutally hacked lawyer Saiful Islam Alif to death.

A total of seven cases, including one for murder, have been filed over the incidents.

The victim’s father, Jamal Uddin, filed a murder case with Chittagong’s Kotwali police station, naming 31 individuals and accusing 10-15 unidentified others.
