The leader of a kidnapping and human trafficking ring based in the hilly areas of Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, has been arrested by the police.
Kefayet Ullah, 27, was arrested early Friday from the Hazmapara area of Teknaf, according to Jashim Uddin Chowdhury, the spokesperson for the Cox’s Bazar District Police and additional superintendent of police (Traffic).
During the arrest, three firearms and 11 rounds of ammunition were recovered, confirmed Jashim Uddin.
The police official said that Kefayet Ullah is the leader of several kidnapping and sea route-based human trafficking rings in the hilly areas of Teknaf.
He added: “Kefayet Ullah has 11 cases registered against him, including charges of murder, kidnapping, and human trafficking. Based on secret information, the police arrested him with three firearms and 11 rounds of ammunition.
“A separate case has been filed for the recovery of the firearms, and he has been sent to court”
