A legal notice has been sent to the Government to publish the list of officials appointed to various government departments after passing the leaked BCS exam questions.
Barrister Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallab and Barrister Mohammad Kawsar, two lawyers of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, sent this notice on behalf of the human rights body ‘Law and Life Foundation’ on Sunday (July 14).
This legal notice was sent to the chairman and secretary of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC/PSC), the secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and the secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The notice states that within the next 15 days, the names, addresses and current designations of the BCS officers who have passed the BCS examination by fraud and appointed in various government offices are requested to be published on the website of the BPSC. At the same time, it is requested taking necessary legal steps against them, including taking departmental action, to take back all the financial benefits received from them, including salaries and allowances.
The notice mentions that various reports published in various newspapers and electronic media show that former drivers and other employees of the BPSC have been supplying the BCS exam question papers to the candidates in exchange for huge amounts of money for the last few decades. The police have so far arrested 17 employees of the BPSC, including Abed Ali, in connection with the question paper leak.
During police interrogation, Abed Ali and other unscrupulous employees gave details on how each of them built mountains of wealth by distributing BCS exam question papers to candidates in exchange of money. The newspaper report also said that the police is preparing the list of appointed officials after passing with the leaked question papers from the arrestees Abed Ali and other employees of the BPSC.
The notice also said that BCS is the most competitive exam in Bangladesh. A qualified candidate is selected after a thorough scrutinization of hundreds of thousands of job aspirants at various levels by written and oral exams. Besides, BPSC is in charge of this entire process. The PSC is supposed to prepare the question papers and supply them to the examination centers maintaining complete confidentiality. However, it appears that the BCS exam question papers are being leaked regularly due to some dishonest officers and employees of the Career Commission.
As a result, corruption and irregularities are increasing in the country due to the appointment of incompetent and disqualified persons to important posts of the Republic, while at the same time, the general people are deprived of the desired services of the Republic due to the lack of qualified and efficient candidates. Therefore, it has been asked to prepare a list of fraudulent officials appointed to various government posts after clearing the leaked questions issues and take necessary action against them.
