Legendary musician and popular band star Shafin Ahmed passed away. He died in a US hospital on Thursday morning.

It is known that he was undergoing treatment in Virginia, USA. He died at 6:50 am Bangladesh time on Thursday.

Shafin Ahmed’s brother Hamin Ahmed confirmed his death to the media. He said that Shafin died due to a massive heart attack.

He also said, ‘On July 20, Shafin had a concert in Virginia. Shafin fell ill before the show. He canceled the show. He was admitted to the hospital that day. After that, his body’s various organs failed and he was taken on life support. Finally, he breathed his last.

Hamin added that they have two cousins ​​in the United States. They are with Shafin for now. Hamin will soon leave Dhaka for America. After this, the body of this legendary singer of Bengali band will be returned to the country.

Shafin Ahmed grew up in a musical family from childhood. Shafin is the youngest son of Bangladeshi classical music singer Kamal Dasgupta and Bangladeshi singer Firoza Begum. Their family was traditionally a musical family.

He began his musical career at the age of 9 by taking lessons about Nazrul Sangeet from his mother. He learned classical music from his father for a while. He was exposed to western musical influences since he studied in England, along with his elder brother, Hamin Ahmed. They then joined the Band Miles which went on to become a leading musical group in Bangladesh.

He was exposed to rock and roll music in the late 70s, when he went to London for higher education. He joined Miles in 1979, first as an acoustic guitarist, and later lead singer and bassist in 1991 when many of the past members had left and Miles reestablished themselves in the 90s Bangla rock music scene.

His popular songs like L.E.G.E.N.D, Oshomomapto, Dukhi Nogori, kotodin dekhi na tomay, Harano Shukh, Pagla Ghonti, Tomakey, Probaho, Proticchobi.
