Locals vandalise police station over ‘inaction in tracing missing boy’

Local people have vanalised Sirajdikhan police station in Munshiganj alleging police inaction to trace a schoolboy who has been missing for nearly 23 days.

Sirajdikhan Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahina Akter said Roman Sheikh, a class IX student of Thoirgaon village went missing on January 21.

Expressing anger over police inaction, local people, including students, formed a human chain at Sirajdikhan Upazila intersection around 11:00 am on Wednesday.

At one stage, local people stormed into Sirajdikhan police station after 12 pm and carried out vandalism there.

They also vandalised vehicles parked in front of the police station.

On information, police and army personnel rushed to the scene.
