The Import and export activities through Benapole Land Port in Jashore will be closed for five consecutive days from Saturday.

Benapole C&F Staff Agents Association General Secretary Sajedur Rahman informed it on Friday (May 17).

He said due to the Lok Sabha elections in Bangaon under North 24 Pargana of India on Saturday, Friday and Monday, Sharsha Upazila elections in Jashore on Tuesday and the Buddha Purnima public holiday on Wednesday, all kinds of import and export through the port will be closed.

However, vehicles carrying emergency patients and perishable goods will be allowed to move subject to valid documents.

Confirming the matter, India’s Petrapol C&F Staff Welfare Association General Secretary Karthik Chakraborty said the import-export activities will resume from next Thursday (May 23).

Benapole Checkpost Police Immigration Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azharul Islam said even the import-export will be closed for five days on the route, the movement of passengers with passport between the two countries will be normal.
